Freshest News: KamiKiss Season 2 PV & Akatsuki no Yona update
Here's the PV of the second season of Kamisama Hajimemashita. There's no broadcast date yet but there will be an announcement on December. The seiyuus of the the new characters have also been introduced. More info from CR.
It was announced on Hana to Yume event that Akatsuki no Yona will run for 2 cours. Meaning it will ran for 25-26 episodes that will last for half a year or until March of next year. From CR.

Manga Review: Hotel La Vie En Rose
Hotel La Vie En Rose by Toyota Yuu 4 chapters-completed
Tachibana Kaori stayed at Hotel La Vie En Rose for a night but in the morning she finds out that she has Y8,000 bill to settle. Now she has to work in the hotel to settle her debt. Sounds familiar? Not only does the debt is like a play with numbers of the infamous 8 million yen vase, the hotel specifically caters the rich, female clientele that's reminiscent of Ouran Host Club. Aside from the debt trope, there are also touches of makeover, gender bender and sports too. The bishies also represent all the job/occupation trope there is. There's the hairstylist, butler, beautician, chef etc. At first I find the supporting guys just a filler characters to get the reverse harem effect. But as they made appearances I find myself wishing there's more for them in the story. The romance was not full blown but the tension is there which makes it adorable. If you want to just pass the time and have some short, light reading then this one's for you. I also wish there's a hotel like this in real life but if you search for the hotel name, there's one in France and another in Thailand.

Freshest News: Jyuza anime and BroCon OVAs release dates
The official website of Jyuzaengi Engetsu Sangokuden is now showing the airing date of Novemeber 28. (Yay, more fall anime!)
The anime twitter account of Brothers Conflict has also announced the release dates for the the two OVAs. December 19 for the Christmas OVA and February 11 for the Valentine's OVA.

Now it's time for a loooong, overdue post. I attended the meet and greet of the cast of "Rurouni Kenshin" last August 6, 2014 held in SM Megamall in the Philippines. It was part of the red carpet movie premiere of the sequel, "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno". The cast included Takeru Satoh (Kenshin), Emi Takei (Kaoru) and Munetaka Aoki (Sanosuke) plus director Keishi Otomo. After the meet and greet with the fans was the movie screening which was invitational only. Rurouni Kenshin is not a reverse harem and you may be wondering how it got into this blog. The reason I covered the event is because I get to see Emi Takei from jdrama, "Asuko March". I feel like there won't be any other opportunity for me to meet her in this lifetime. Of course, I'm also delighted to see the other stars of RK. I've seen the first part, bad sadly I have yet to see the next two parts. "Asuko March" is her first drama to which she headlined and then months after that I saw her in RK movie.
I initially saw in news that the premiere was on August 7 and I know we'll be going on a roadtrip that day so going to the event is out of the picture. Then a day before that, I was just browsing on the net when I found out that they're actually having the premier on the day itself or in a couple of hours to be exact and it was nearer my place. Boom! I made a last-minute decision and raced to the mall with two boys in tow. We arrived an hour early but the barricades on the ground floor were already surrounded so we found a spot on the second floor instead.
I think we waited for two hours. It started an hour late at 4pm. There was a long list of reminders from SM Cinema which includes not to ask for autograph and to take pictures until they tell us so and yadda, yadda, yadda. But once the foursome stepped in to the mall, it was a pandemonium! Every time they take a step, they're signing autographs left and right. All of them are so accommodating to the screaming fans. I think the signing took 30 minutes or more. There was this girl who shouted to Emi Takei. Emi walked towards them and took the pen and paper and then walked to the director or the other guys (can't remember who it was now) for an autograph! I can't believe the audacity of the fans to make that request from her but it's much more unbelievable that she obliged. She's just so nice! She's really shy yet graceful and she's really pretty. She mentioned during the Q & A that this is her first premier outside Japan. Don't worry this is my first time to attend any premier event for the matter. Yes we're talking like equals here. (lol). Satoh is polite but reserved compared to Saito who's really funny, loud and who knows how to work the crowd. He made the crowd chant his name and oh yeah he was wearing slippers. Among the four, Satoh was the only who answered the Q & A in English sans the interpreter.
Before the cast arrived, the host was giving away premiere tickets to the people who can answer his questions. Too bad we're on the second floor. One of the questions was something like what was Saito's previous occupation and I confidently told my son: Shinsengumi. Thank you Hakuouki for enriching my Japan 101.
It's good that I was able to attend the meet and greet that day because Emi Takei had to leave early and wasn't part of the second event in the other mall. I think I've already prepared myself in attending events after Jenny Han's autograph signing. But turns out each event is indeed a new, learning experience. So as a reminder to myself again, I should really go early and situate myself on the front row of the barricades for better chances of getting an autograph. The middle part seems a good part. This is the second event I had this year and maybe the third time will be a charm and I'll finally get a signature! And for those on planning to attend events such as this, don't forget to bring lots of pens, papers and merchandise. And also things can get ugly with a lot of pushing from the crowd so be extra careful too! This time I brought a book with me so I kinda read every now and then but the anticipation was killing me so I can't really concentrate. But lesson learned, next time I'll be in jeans so I could sit on the floor. We stood for a very looong time.
I took a lot of crappy pictures and videos from the second floor and I'll save you from it. Haha. Go check out official pictures from SM Cinema. But we had a good view from the top and my sons appreciated the entire thing well except for the waiting part. The perks of an anime mom or that's what I keep telling myself.

Book Review: The Scarab Beetle Book #2: Liar
The Scarab Beetle Book #2: Liar by C.L. Stone
Kylie's brother is missing and she returns back to the Academy boys for help. But as she gets to know the Academy, she's now having second thoughts if she's with the good guys or the bad guys. And as she digs deeper, she finds herself getting more entangled with the boys. Again girls, this is new adult. No kids allowed and spoilers ahead!
I have always kept my reviews spoilers free but since I've included novels, it's hard to keep book installment reviews spoiler-free. Okay here goes. I have mixed feelings with "Liar". Three-fourths of the novel was a drag and the pressure of not having to post reviews for weeks is the only thing that kept me going. I'm also having a hard time in picking up the mechanics of the bonds. Everything is a jargon to me. I might have finally got the gist of it at the end but it's still confusing to me. I also can't believe how easily she gets back to Blake in a heartbeat. I mean I like Blake. He represents the hot villains just like in Hakuouki and Harukanaru. But it just doesn't sit well with me. The only thing exciting that happened in between were Raven's and Axel's. I also can't believe that some sexual topics that will probably never see the light in Ghost Bird series are being discussed so casually in Scarab Beetle. Like Raven's uhmmm thingy and how the Academy boys handle contraception. She's going to get really hot and heavy with someone!
I was close to making a decision that I really prefer GB. The last one-fourth is the redeeming quality of the book. It's like all hell break loose. I'm not really particular with movie action scenes. But I loved the GB crossovers. And there's this character that plays a crucial part on both series. And a major development that fujoshis will love.
I'm suddenly really interested with how the future books will play out and tying the two series was a smart move since the former is already well-established with fans. The books can stand alone with each other but getting the easter eggs on both series is fun. Like Kylie having the phone on her bosom just like Sang's and she's like this is so obvious. It's also like we're outside looking in on both series with the POV from each book. GB to SB. SB to GB.
I also love parallelisms. The significance of the title was explained and it's noticeable that the heroines both represent animals: ghost bird and scarab beetle. There's also the boys' POV in the end just like in GB. I can't stress enough how the two series are in the opposite end of spectrum. Or how they reversed the story of the Academy Boys. Or flipped the switch. Or live in alternate worlds. Kylie almost have all the info in an instant as opposed to Sang who's really out in the dark about the Academy.
This also got me thinking that the mysterious guy that the principal talked to and Volto may be from SB. Blake's role in the book kind of reminds me now of Volto. But I don't think it's him. It's making me think again that the first choice may be true after all.
P.S. The kohl nails in the SB covers are sticking out like a sore thumb since Kylie doesn't use nail polish.

Here's the new key visual for the anime, "Akatsuki no Yona" or Dawn of Yona, featuring Yona in her new 'do. There will also be a second PV to be screened on Animate Girls Festival 2014 which will be held on Nov. 8 and 9. More info on CR.
