In the first volume, Mystia meets two of Kyun Kyun Love's suitors, Raid and Eric. In this sequel, we get to see how she meets Jesse, the teacher. For the fourth guy, Robert, it is more of pleasantries. The nicknames in the first volume are still not crystal clear to me. The sparkling prince. The cool tsundere. The gaudy guy. The yakuza teacher. I managed to get the first two mixed up while the other two have yet to unfold their said attributes. The competitiveness between Eric and Raid is amusing coupled with Mystia's helplessness over the two. But out of the three love interests so far, Jesse's story seems to have a bug or two. There are minor details that didn't make sense to me.
The first volume is included in the Top 10 Favorite Reverse Harem for 2021 but my interest waned a tiny bit when it became the usual otome game isekai shenanigans. But then the kicker for all the four suitors in the bonus chapter blew me away. There is like a soundtrack playing in my head. You know the fast-paced haunting scoring when there's a twist in the finale of an anime. Yeah, that one. This is my favorite part of the story and gives fresh new meaning to her reverse harem and the story. I'm excited about the new direction it might be going.
As I read or watch isekai, otome game, villainess tropes the template is becoming prominent now which includes: 1) most starts at a young age, eight or ten-years-old and 2.) have at least one of a suitor to represent forbidden relationship like overclingy brothers or in this case teacher and student. See My Next Life as a Villainess and The Reincarnated Princess Spends Another Day Skipping Story Routes. And there are those that have steered away from the forbidden routes like in the cases of I'd Rather Have a Cat than a Harem! Reincarnated into the World of an Otome Game as a Cat-loving Villainess and As The Villainess, I Reject These Happy-Bad Endings!
The second volume is out now while the third volume will be out on August 9th. The third volume's cover of course features the third guy. The approach of featuring each guy with the heroine is a contrast amidst reverse harem manga covers that feature the bishonen only sans heroines. We see you Anyway I'm Falling In Love With You, Bitemaker, and Rosen Blood. (Ohh future Instagram post!). What's your take on this manga? Sound off in the comments.
