Anime Review: Uta Prince No Sama Maji Love Revolutions
Uta Prince No Sama Maji Love Revolutions - 13 episodes
Quartet has been chosen to open the most prestigious, SSS. Starish also hopes to becomes a part of and it will be divided into a cross-units to deem themselves worthy of entering the contest. Nanami will also work with Quartet in producing new songs.
When news broke out that the third season will be entitled Maji Love Revolutions, everybody was wondering why it wasn't named, Uta Prince 3000%. Now I know why, it would be too hard to live up with the pressure. My feelings for Uta-Pri seem like a see-saw. I didn't like the first season. Then surprisingly, I enjoyed the second season and now I'm back to being disappointed again.
I don't have anything against boy bands but I gravitate more to girl groups like 2NE1 and After School. While everyone was crazy with Backtstreet Boys, N'Sync etc. in higshchool (Warning! generation gap alert!); I was into Spice Girls and All Saints. But Uta Pri has its' appeals that draws you in even if you're not a boy band fan. With all the cd merchandise, they've released it's no surprise that there'll be a lot of songs per episode. I liked the acapella opening of Quartet, it's so powerful. But I find their final performance very anti-climactic against Starish's 'Revolution'. Their song becomes the highlight compared to "Revolution" which has been playing nonstop through the series. Starish's main song doesn't feel new or exciting at the point where it suppose to matter. I can't critique much of the songs since I'm not a music expert. But I can't help but notice that sometimes the melodies all sound the same? I was also hoping that Starish will be selfish or be super jealous that she's working with Quartet. I decided that my favorite Quartet is Camus, but this is purely based on looks alone. For Starish, it's Ren. I tend to like guys with long mane in Uta Pri. But my favorite in terms of personality is missing, Satsuki. I was expecting they'll let Natsuki brought him one during his troubles in the stageplay.
Uta Prince has the flair for being outrageous but Ai's true identity was so out of the blue just like Cecil's curse. Is it just my pregnant hormones talking but I'm really irritated with Shining's over-the-top personality. (Yep, baby #4...another boy on the way haha) I wasn't irritated with him before.
Despite being a very dragging sequel, the ending was surprising and it sure makes you excited and optimistic for the upcoming fourth season especially with the battle's verdict left hanging in the open. One of the new addition though looks like cut-out straight from Diabolik Lovers anime.

To Be Continued, an upcoming Korean web drama, is "about girl who crosses paths with a male idol group who suddenly find themselves back in the past, right before their big debut." It features a real-life upcoming boy band group and slated for 12 episodes starting August 18. Get the deets on allkpop.
One and Only You, is also an upcoming Korean drama, about a scandal between a new five-member idol group and a troublemaker top actor. I'm thinking the troubelmaker may be that girl in the picture. Manga Review: Nise no Chigiri

It's like Fushigi Yugi meets Geten No Hana. It's based on an otome game and character designs in otome games are almost always highly-stylized. I wasn't too keen with the storyline since transporting back in time is one of the oldest trick in reverse harem. Mana is believed to be a disciple of Bishamonten so the ninjas protect her. It's another play of the maiden and guardians trope. I was more into it for the eye candies. My favorite bishies are the ninja, Masato and the villain, Kansuke. But as the story shows their individual backstories, it ends unexplored making you want to check the game. Kudos to the creators in piquing my interest for the game. I see a lot of potential especially for Masato and Kansuke while Shuuya's love for sweets is so cute. Mana is just your typical shoujo heroine. I don't find her irritating but not exactly thrilled with her either. The series is already finished and I'm not happy with who she ends up with. Boo! And I don't why it was entitled "Marriage Vows" though. I tried to skim for the otome game reviews and it looks like the two older men have their own routes too!
It's also shameful that I was hoping it was R-18 especially during her encounters with Kansuke. And in other unrelated idea, how I wish for a R-18 Hakuouki. Wasn't it just a few months ago that I've wished for ONA SSL and look what we got...a drama! Now let's close our eyes and make a wish for it.

News Round Up: KamiKiss 2 new OADs and new musical, Akagami OAD and more!
There will be two more OADs from "Kamisama Hajimemashita". The first episode is "Kamisama, Hanayome ni Naru" ("The God Becomes a Bride") and will ship out in April 20 next year, while the second episode, "Kamisama, Mukae ni Iku" (I'll Meet Up with God") will ship out in August 19 next year.
There will also be a second musical, "Kamisama Hajimemashita The Musical 2016". It will run from January 15 to 21. More info on ANN.
"Akagami no Shirayuki-hime" ("Snow White with the Red Hair") will have an OAD with three chapters that will not be included in the ongoing anime series. The first chapter is about Shirayuki and Zen's date in the castle town, the second chapter is about Prince Raji as a child while the third chapter is about how Zen, Mitushide and Kiki first met. Miki Aihara' manga, "Go-ji karu Ku-ji made" ("From 5 to 9") will be getting a video adaptation. It can be a moving image of anime or live action. More info on ANN. (I only read the first chapter before, I'm not completely sure if this is RH)

The otome spinoff of American drama Gossip Girl will also get an English release as "Gossip Girl: Style Your Love". It will be available on iOs and Android on September.
Maki Horikita marries Yamamoto Koji after two months of dating. The two first met in "Atashinchi no Danshi" but they started dating when they are reunited for the stage play "Arashigaoka". Freshest News: Prince of Stride otome to be animated, 5 to 9 cast and more!
Otome game, "Prince of Stride", will be animated for winter 2016 release. It's titled, "Prince of Stride: Alternative".
"You", or Sakurai Nana (default name changeable) became drawn to Stride after watching a web video depicting a Stride match with Hounan Senior High Academy. Wholeheartedly wanting to play Stride, Nana enrolled into Hounan Academy.

Drama Review: Dream Knight

Joo in Hyung is a very positive girl who lives by herself and who strives hard to fulfill her dreams. She's also a big fan of the idol group, GOT, who goes in the same school with her. Then one day four mysterious boys with strange powers appear to protect her.

I feel so cheated with dramas that blatantly marketing themselves as reverse harem. Case in point: Flower Boy Next Door, Rooftop Prince etc. It has a touch of reverse harem with its cohabitation and guardian set up, but for the romance department it's strictly a love triangle, But prior to the home-crashers, In Hyung is used to living alone by herself in a lone trailer down the riverside and I'm like this is a murder scene waiting to happen.
The opening credit is a cheesy dance off with a Diabolik Lover vibe. But the title card looks so amateurish. The web drama is joint production between Korea and China featuring the idol group, GOT7. We are now used to ONA format in animes and so even though it's the first time I've seen a very short episode for a drama, 13 minutes, it wasn't hard to get the hang of it. Kpop boy bands + web drama is becoming a thing now. There's the already finished, EXO Next Door (thanks Angie for the tip) and the ongoing, To Be Continued. Anything I've missed? That's a promising trope to watch out for! Yaaas!
I procrastinated on watching this but once I started watching it again, it was too easy to watch since it's really short. The drama showcased the GOT's dancing prowess and I was impressed with the two main guy's acting too. I was disappointed with the performance for the main event because I really thought In Hyung is going to dance like a pro! (oops spoiler!). For me, the evil girl should win it. Lol!
The storyline is just average and it ends on a happy note. The only thing that set it apart from the usual dramas is when the supposedly evil guys are one step ahead of them and they explained the twist afterwards. So that was kind of unpredictable.
And now for some small stuff. I lost my mom, so it struck a chord in me when they broke her video camera. I also love the cameo of Yoo Gyum (I just have to Google her) as the older hot woman who kept getting splashed with water. Also, I don't know what is the deal with the evil girl's mother, was she adopted? I might have missed the part where it was explained. There's also a cameo of Choi Woo Shik from Rooftop Prince.

Book Review: Spearwood Academy Volume 5- 8
Spearwood Academy Volume 5-8 by A.S. Oren
Avalon wakes up with painful memories and she finds herself fighting for her innocence. It doesn't help that all the boys have been mind-warped. Good thing, she still finds unlikely allies inside the academy. The series ends with a new threat against the school, their kind and most especially to Avalon. The books were given for free in exchange for honest review. Spoilers ahead.
Volume 5 starts with what Avalon herself acknowledged as Hunger Games setup. But being a Potter fan herself, she didn't mention the similarities to Mirror of Erised and the Goblet of Fire tournament and on later volumes there are also references to Marauder's Map and Cloak of Invisibility. I can't help but compare the ring similarity to The Mortal Instruments too.
I can't believe that one of the major characters is really dead. Just when we started to know the character, boom...sudden death. I was hoping it was just a cliffhanger but it was signed, sealed and delivered. But there might still be a way for them to meet, if my hunch is right.
As much as I loved Dante, I would want him and Avi to be together in their real selves. I feel like whatever happens between them doesn't count but it's a solid start to build something serious in the future. I'm also sensing the tension of a romance being build up for Mirren and Bullock.
In Volume 6, the significance of personal assistants comes into play which I find just so sad and a bit disturbing but it opens up to a many possibilities. I loved the twist in this volume. The origin of PAs was first explained on Spearwood Boys but the spin-off had been pulled out. Some of the background stories in the spin-off are now being introduced in the succeeding volumes of Spearwood Academy like Dante's parents etc.
In the final two volumes and in true Spearwood fashion, the story peaks and ends in a wide-scale battle. I liked how it ended but I was hoping that there will be an appearance from her brother or from the men pulling the strings inside the school. What happened to her parents?
If the Ghost Bird series is super slow in pacing, then Spearwood Academy is the complete opposite. The plot twists and arc changes are super fast. It doesn't give you time to recover. It gives justice to the line, "That escalated quickly". Too quickly. It's twists upon twist. Before you get to fully know the characters, a new batch of characters with mysterious agenda are being added. It has probably something to do with the one-volume-at-a-time release. All the elements are cramped and the storyline are rushed. It could be more fully explored if it's a single book perhaps? Still, I'm excited for book 2. But before you get your hopes high, the book has been pulled up for now. Now after reading the reason for having it pulled out, it does make sense. I was disappointed that it was pulled out but I'm now much more excited with the rebranding. The story has a lot of potential and I'm looking for forward to the new Spearwood Academy. There's also two new reverse harem series from the same author, which are Gildemer and Miltic. I haven't read the two yet but you may want to check it out at Reverse Harem Garden Store.

Anime Review: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
Shirayuki escapes from her kingdom when Prince Raji tries to make her his concubine because of her red hair. She meets Zen, the first prince of Clarines and joins him in his kingdom where she tries to hone her skills as a herbalist.
I read the manga before and tagged it under 'unconfirmed'. There are plenty of male characters but her relationships with them are ambiguous. But to be honest, I have forgotten the story now. So when the news came out I was excited but I had apprehensions at the same time since I haven't picked the manga since then. The first cour ran for 12 episodes and sadly, it doesn't feel reverse harem at all. So there's of course Zen, then there's this guy who seems drawn to her but he doesn't know it yet (haha) and of course, the one who started this, Prince Raji. But I feel like he doesn't count. But as I tried to check for spoilers, Raji will have a bigger role to fill in and hopefully it will be in the second cour.
Overall, I just find the story too neat and too perfect and in a very non-exciting way. It's kind of dragging too. I'm just not bought to the idea of their purpose in life. I don't remember feeling this way when I was reading the manga. It was kind of anything goes in the manga but in the anime it there's the pressure to see the larger view of the picture and I just couldn't connect.
But I admire Shirayuki's character. She seems weak with her demeanor and soft voice but she's strong-headed and a fighter which are endangered qualities in reverse harem heroines. Not too sound like a party pooper but haven't they heard the idea of dyeing hair or wearing a wig to not attract attention. I also love that subtle relationship between Zen and Shirayuki. I was expecting that they'll be oblivious about their feelings or it will be long-drawn out and then poof! I wonder how it will pan out in the second cour now that they officially like each other. I'll keep it short then as we wait for its' return on January of next year. Let's also pray for a full-blown reverse harem story! *crosses fingers*

Manga Review: Kindan Princess
Momoka's mother asked four boys in her school to seduce her daughter. Yep, just one line and twelve words to describe the plot of a smutty manga. It's the second story in the manga and composes of two chapters only. I haven't read smut in a long time. Here I was, just innocently aiming to read a completed manga and tada! How could a mother do this to her daughter? But in the brighter side of things, the first story is much more disturbing and not a reverse harem, by the way. I'm sorry for this very short review! haha Not for minors, okay?!
