Light Novel Review: The Reincarnated Princess Spends Another Day Skipping Story Routes Vol. 3

There are three calamities in the Hidden World game where Rosemary is reincarnated: the war, the demon lord's revival, and the plague. She may have already temporarily stopped the demon lord's revival so Rosemary decided to pursue the leads for a cure... and no matter what avoid engagement that is supposed to strengthen military ties. Rosemary embarks on a journey to help find the cure. Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher.

This is the first review to reach the third volume since I usually drop titles after the second due to losing interest or if the story veers away from reverse harem theme. Check out first two reviews here. Rosemary has now met the remaining characters -  the 27-year-old gay assassin, the feminist assassin turned waiter (not sure on this one yet), and the demon's lord big sister. Rosemary is also nearly 13 years old. And I'm starting to see her now as a lady and not as the cute 10-year-old child, especially with that last character art insert. But it becomes more evident that not all are romantically in love with her. Some are just doting on her with a few on a bit obsessive side. And while we're on the subject,  Klaus totally shined in this volume. And as usual, anything related to him just cracks me up.

Overpowered or omnipotent are key characteristics of isekai and in reverse harem isekai so far the denseness of their effect on other people. And Rosemary checks all the boxes but replace the overpowered and omnipotent with over-knowledgeable. Okay, there's no such word. As I'm starting to feel exasperated with her zero self-awareness of people who care for her, the author probably sensing the reader's mood will also address it through a character we never expected to deliver it. My one other issue is that she's conveniently too knowledgeable of a disease not yet known in the game. But like with my other favorites, My Next Life as a Villainess and Ghost Bird, I get too critical when I really like the story. Like there's no room for flaws or weaknesses.

Overall, I always feel impatient with the story. I always want to skip to romance parts or to exciting parts but after I'm done reading it always leaves me 100% satisfied. I enjoy where the story is going even though it feels like a filler episode in anime-speak. All the characters shined even for just a short moment and it is a feat too, particularly for having twelve-reverse harem members (The other two are her brothers though. lol) And it's not the ten possible romance routes that are hyping me up. It's the twelve unique storylines and conflicts for each character which doesn't feel obligatory or too much at all. Make that thirteen including Rosemary's. They're all equally entertaining.
