Anime Review: Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth

Rei Izumi is tasked to recruit members for STAND, a unit that specializes in narcotics control. She is also immune to the effect of drugs.

My first impression is that I love the office/crime-fighting/contemporary vibe which is a first in reverse harem. I think? But from the first episode, I already had a hard time differentiating the core bishonen group and trust me there will be more bishonen to come. They have similar character designs and the basic office suits. The only guys who stood out are pink-haired doctor and the antagonist group. Another case of too much bishonen. It's Sengoku Night Blood all over again. Okay, the novelist and actor brothers are memorable. 

I was trying to keep an open mind about the series but by episode 2, I resigned to the fact that it is  another boring mobile game adaptation. The story is not going anywhere for the longest time and everything is vague when you can't keep up with who's who. 

I'm not also feeling the heroine. At first, they keep on using her feminity as a hindrance for her to get her job done. Case in point, her heel getting stuck and her hair getting disheveled so later on she change to flats and cut her hair. But other than that she's as "memorable" as the rest of the bishonen. Well it's good too that they did not overuse her drug immunity in the scenarios. It would have been awkward considering it already looked too forced at the start. 

I was expecting a big finale to compensate for the slow burn and when it finally ended, I'm like that's it? But I'm so happy I'm over it.  I did love the opening. It's modern and reminds me of kpop.  Maybe this would have worked if they just focused on fewer characters and more romance.
