Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love Kingdom - film 1 hour 24 minutes
After the Triple S event, the three idol groups Starish, Quartet Night and Heavens come together again for a concert.
This is going to be a movie and an event review. I had a feeling it will be shown in our country (Philippines) given that it went well in Japan and there are many screenings in North America. The regular screening opened on October 30. I was planning on watching the 3 pm show but while I was on the bus I saw that the 3 pm is no longer available. There were a lot of available seats when I last checked from home. Wow! I didn't expect it to be filled up so quickly. So I have to wait for the next show at 5:15 pm. I went in at around 4:45 I guess but no one's inside yet so I went out again. It didn't help that it was Halloween and there was a horror house right in front of the theater. A few minutes later, a couple got inside and I followed suit. When I got in, the rows of seats that were marked as taken are actually just a big space allotted probably for events like special screening. So I was seated below at the very first row while the couple are seated at the balcony. The only reason I chose this seat was so I could be near the crowd. When I decided to watch it all by myself I didn't expect to watch the movie almost all by myself.
I was so nervous and excited when it finally started. It was a surreal moment that it's happening. I always thought it's just wishful thinking to watch a revese harem anime in a movie screen. The theme of the concert is kingdom. This is meant to be a concert event for fans. It's exactly what you expect when you watch a concert well in my case minus the fans. There is also an interaction part where you can scream back to the idols. For a brief second, I considered shouting back. I envy other countries where they have lightsticks. It will be much more enjoyable if it was packed. The freezing temperature and the fact that I was all alone was distracting. I kept on glancing around half-expecting either a "white lady" (local supernatural creature) or a serial killer would appear. Later on I noticed there was someone seated at the far back. I'm not alone after all...
I love the groupings. I love the songs. I loved it when they were all lined up. But I got bored with their trademark flowery talk after the performances. It's good that I watched the fourth season, Uta no Prince Sama Maji Love Legend Star, just this year so it was still fresh in my mind when I watched this. It was also on the exact moment in the movie when their strengths dawned on me.
Quartet Night - They have the best vocals. Having only four members worked in their favor because it showcased their superb blending.
Heavens - They have the best choreography.
Starish- They have the overall impact like the best package.
And correct me if I'm wrong I've always thought is the main guy is Tokiya but with season 4 and his position in the movie in the end I think it's biased with Otoya.
The movie alone is not a reverse harem (three flowers) since it is intended as concert experience for fans. But as it near its end I was afraid of getting disappointed because of a certain important element but let's just say I was satisfied. The franchise could live without the movie but it was a fitting end for the legend that is called Uta No Prince Sama.
After the movie I counted the people leaving and including me there were only 6 of us. I overheard the girl telling her boyfriend to watch it again and the guy was like Nooo. When I got home someone liked my tweet of UtaPri and found someone who watched the movie (1 of the 6) and she mentioned the mall cancelled the 3pm show. I got worked out for nothing for not coming earlier. And I realized now I could have moved to a different seat.
Only regret is watching it with just a number of fans and not taking more pictures or videos. Now I know why there was advanced fan screening but of course, it's pricier. I pondered on maybe setting a meet up for fans but the introvert side of me got the better of me. Who would have thought it will be a fun and scary experience at the same time for me. Farewell, Uta Pri! How was your movie experience? I'm curious. Share it down below.
This is the fourth time I hauled myself out of for a reverse harem related event. You may check the tag for the past events. I saw Cybird or Voltage (I forgot which) merchandise for Anime Con but the venue was too far from my place. Even though I hate commuting and I got sick with coughs afterward it was worth it and I have rejuvenated energy to go out of my comfort zone again. Til the next event!
