Sweet Punishment (Amai Chōbatsu: Watashi wa Kanshu Senyō Pet)- 13 episodes based on web manga by Sho Izumi
The story is set in 2038. Hina Saotome 3077 was framed and was sent to an all-male prison. She is placed under the supervision of prison guard, Aki Myojin, who she must obey...absolutely. WARNING! FOR ADULTS ONLY.
I feel like it's a giant leap for reverse harem and women when I posted about She's Gotta Have It but then we took two giant leaps backward with Sweet Punishment. This is going to be the most problematic post. I've been dreading to blog about this and in the end, I don't have anything to sensible to say. Why why did I have to tag it as a reverse harem? The reverse harem can be two-fold with her boyfriend and the two guys in the prison and being the only girl in prison. Okay, I changed my mind I will tag this under "Related". Kuro to Kin no Hirakanai Kagi To seems like a baby compared to this.
Apparently, this is part of the genre, Teens Love. Not necessarily about teens but basically, all the adaptations being made by Comic Festa now falls into that category starting with Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni. It runs for a few minutes per episode but filled with H scenes and girls being taken against their will or until they fall into submission. Some women may enjoy the masochism and it's their choice if they are into this but then again it should be with consent. The ending was surprising but it made sense. But still, it was just an excuse to make this sell. I think it all boils down to Japanese patriarchal culture but I feel I'm not an expert to further delve on this.
Story aside, I enjoyed the aesthetics. I love the character designs of a man in uniform and a tattooed Yakuza guy. Their looks are typical to bishonens in shoujo animes. But Aki looks distorted most of the times. He looks better in the original design in the web manga. I love Higa's character and visuals.
My short commentary above is with me following my moral compass especially at this age but do not be deceived it's not a good sign that I finished this first before the other recent reverse harem animes. My life choices are bad I know. I don't have a problem with the mature genre since I grew up reading steamy paperback books but most of the time I cringed at the excuses to overlook with what's wrong with it. I mean would it hurt if the girl is willing to be punished. Okay, that didn't come out right. After Sweet Punishment, Comic Festa followed up this time with harem-themed, Joshiochi!: 2-kai kara Onnanoko ga... Futtekita!? Now all the girls are all willing...well of course since it is men's fantasy. Bottomline: Teens Love is so baaaaaaad I watched 'em all. XD Please don't follow my lead.
