Anime Review: Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA and Kako-Hen

Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA

It consists of two 15-minute-ish episodes. The first episode is based on the manga while the second one is an original story. In the first episode, Tomoe is keeping a secret from Nanami, while in the second episode Tomoe and Nanami go on a trip. It's just appetizers so I recommend watching this first before the main course which is Kako Hen.

Kamisama Hajimemashita Kako Hen- ( Kamisama Kiss Past Arc)

It consists of five OVAs that were bundled on different volumes. Tomo is afflicted with a curse and the only way to save him is for Nanami to travel back in time. 

I never saw the timeslip coming. My love for timeslip is at par with gender bender. It's one of my favorite tropes, be it in anime or Hollywood movies or tv. I liked that it addressed the ripple of the timeslip into the future and not just a simple travel to the past. 

At first, it was frightening to see this side of Tomoe but then gradually his curiosity changed to something else. I just admire how Nanami does not allow her feelings to get in the way of changing the past. She does all her best not to go between the Yukiji and Tomoe. I can't imagine how hard it is for Nanami see a different Tomoe who is the far opposite of the present/future (?) Tomoe. This arc seems important in the story I don't know why it was just OAD and not season 3. Season 3, please!!! I also read the manga is better than the anime but since I have not read this parts yet, let me just say that I loved the twists already so I'm expecting to enjoy it more when I finally get to finish the manga. I thought Akura will have more diabolical participation in the story. I mean there is but not in an all-out villain mode as I would have expected. 

Now, all we need is for Nanami to crossdress as a boy or a Shinsengumi for the reverse harem trope bingo card. Jk.
